FEMM announce new album – 80s/90s J-POP REVIVAL

Following the release of their double A-side single, FEMM revealed that their next project would be an 80s/90s J-POP REVIVAL. Turns out that’s the title of their new album coming this October.

The mannequin duo have revamped their website to coincide with the release of their second album, 80s/90s J-POP REVIVAL. It features RiRi and LuLa covering classic J-pop tracks, fusing cutting-edge styles such as trap and future bass. They have also released the cover art and tracklist.

From the album, FEMM has released two advance digital singles, both of which are available to download now. These include their cover of Yuki Saito’s Sotsugyo and Kome Kome Club’s Roman Hikou.

Producers on the album include MYLK and Radical Hardcore Clique. MYLK is a singer/songwriter/producer, known for J-pop inspired music productions fused with diverse EDM genres. She has also collaborated with various electronic producers, notably providing tracks for Canadian label Monstercat. Radical Hardcore Clique are a duo whose work features grime and trap and have also done remixes for Diplo and NERVO.

The gorgeous cover art for the album is by artist Max Prentis. Inspired by Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira the retro-future artwork has a lot of incredible detail (notice the signage, and are those skulls on RiRi’s and LuLa’s battle uniforms?).
